Hortensia E. Sagredo, 87, widow of Gabriel H. Sagredo, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her loved ones at her residence on March 1, 2024, at her in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on May 27, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of the late, Maria Cuevas and Francisco B. Escobedo.

We will forever cherish the memories of Hortensia's remarkable life and the impact she made on all those who knew her. She dedicated her life to her family and was deeply respected by these she loved. She was known for her fondness of the outdoors who loved to do yard work and tend to her flowers. When she wasn't able to go out, she enjoyed doing word searches.

Hortencia will be remembered for the way she touched the lives of many and with sure and certain faith one day we will all be reunited once again.

In addition to her husband of 30 years, Gabriel H. Sagredo, and parents, Maria Cuevas and Francisco B. Escobedo, she is also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Reyes; sisters, Francis Sotello, Irene Villanueva and Dolores Gomez; and brothers, David Escobedo and Bernardo Cuevas.

Family members include her children, Daniel (Nancy) Alderete, Anna (Ricardo) Campos, Jose (Josie) Gonzales, Ernest E. (Veronica) Gonzales and Mike (Amanda) Reyes; 25 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; sisters, Dora Macias and Angelica Flores; brother, Antonio Escobedo; many nieces and nephews in addition to numerous extended family members.

The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a prayer service.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, March 15, 2024, in Castillo Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am. The burial will follow with a graveside service at Mission Burial Park South.
