Obituary

Irene Lopez, age 79, of San Antonio, Texas, went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2026. Irene was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and warmth touched everyone who knew her.

More than anything, Irene loved spending time with her family. Being surrounded by the people she loved most brought her the greatest joy, and many of her favorite memories were made simply visiting, laughing, and sharing time together. She had a deep love for her faith and found comfort in praying the rosary and sharing her love for Jesus with those around her. Irene also enjoyed collecting Fiesta medals, listening to Tejano music and oldies, and taking drives to the casinos with her sisters and nieces, where they shared stories, laughter, and created many cherished memories. She loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros and especially enjoyed staying up late talking and laughing on the phone with her sisters.

Irene had a special gift for making people feel seen and loved. She always made sure everyone around her was taken care of, never judged anyone, and had a way of making people laugh and smile. She had a warm heart that made people feel comfortable and welcome in her presence. She loved her family and friends unconditionally, and took great pride in always being there for the people she loved. Her kindness, strength, and the joy she brought to others will always be remembered by those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Gregorio Rodriguez; her husbands, Henry Lopez and Raul Eguia; her daughter, Amanda Lopez; two brothers, Joe Villarreal and Eddie Rodriguez; and one sister, Viola Hopkins.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Henry Lopez Jr. and his wife Jackie, Angie De La Rosa, Joann Trevino and her husband Tony; seven grandchildren, Andrea Sanchez, Henry Lopez III,

Desiree Negrete, Danielle and Darianne De La Rosa, Sef and Miranda Trevino; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She is also survived by six siblings: Virgie Redin, Dave Villarreal, Victoria Canales, Peggy Del Bosque, Greg Rodriguez, and Diana Rodriguez, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Her love will live on through the family she cherished so deeply and through every heart she touched along the way.
