Isabel
Sendejo
April 29, 1929 – June 8, 2025
Isabel San Miguel Sendejo, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her family, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 8, 2025, at the age of 96. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and creativity that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
Born on April 29, 1929, in Floresville, Texas, Isabel was the daughter of Hipolito Sendejo and Anselma San Miguel. She grew up alongside her five siblings, all of whom have preceded her in death. Isabel later met and married her late ex-husband, Severo Aguilar Sr., in Hondo, Texas. A long-time resident of San Antonio, for approximately 10 years she worked at a City health clinic. She also dedicated many years of her life as a special needs bus driver for the San Antonio Independent School District, where she later retired from. She touched the lives of countless children and the community.
Isabel was a devoted mother to her son, Severo S. Aguilar Jr., and her two daughters, Anselma Trevino and Elizabeth Regalado. She was preceded in death by her two daughters, a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter. Isabel is survived by her son, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, along with their families, all of whom carry forward her spirit and values.
A woman of deep faith, Isabel was known as a fierce prayer warrior, always lifting up her family, friends, and those in need in prayer. Her love for God was evident in her joyful participation in church activities and family gatherings, where her warmth and kindness shone brightly. Isabel found joy in the simple pleasures of life, celebrating birthdays and creating lasting memories with her loved ones.
Growing up in humble circumstances, Isabel developed a passion for dolls and little toy trinkets, which she cherished as symbols of joy and creativity. Her artistic talents were evident in her sewing, crocheting, and baking, skills she lovingly passed down to her grandchildren. Her home was a testament to her creativity, filled with unique creations made from everyday items, each with a story and a lesson to share.
A celebration of Isabel's life will take place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Castillo Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM, with a service starting at 6 PM. Family and friends are warmly invited to honor her memory. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Castillo Funeral Home Chapel G1, with interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park.
Though Isabel is no longer with us in body, her love, memory, and legacy of faith will continue to inspire and guide her family. We take comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of God, reunited with her loved ones in heaven. Isabel will forever remain in our hearts, a shining example of love, resilience, and unwavering faith.
