Jaime Mireles De La Garza, 74, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2024.

Jaime was born in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico on December 11, 1949 to Lucas Valdez De La Garza and Esperanza Mireles De La Garza. At the young age of 11, he moved to Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, where he continued his studies at the Instituto Tecnológico de Coahuila and graduated in 1967. In 1969, at the age of 20, he moved to San Antonio, Texas to join his family.

In 1971, he married the love of his life, Rosa and had five children. It was during this time, he also began his career in carpentry and construction. That, paired with a love for creating, allowed him to develop his own contracting company, De La Garza Construction, where he designed many restaurants, various buildings in downtown San Antonio and worked on multiple other projects. Eventually he specialized in designing custom homes, where he excelled, and after some time built a home for his own family. He often enlisted a blend of his brothers, his three sons, various other family members and several friends to work for him for the duration of his lifetime. It is well known that he loved working with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rosa Amelia Martinez De La Garza and five children: Jaime De La Garza Jr., Elva Infante (Ranecky), Laura Padilla (Louis), Alejandro De La Garza (Daniel), and Robert De La Garza (Dai), 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Rosalinda, Edilia, Mario, Lucas, Norma Leticia, Oscar, and Juan Jose along with numerous other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lucas and Esperanza, and his sisters Biselva, Esperanza, Elva, Margarita, Dora Elia, and Maria Elena.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our family and friends who were pivotal along this journey with us. We would especially like to thank Journey Hospice, specifically Jose, Jema, Lauren, Deacon Rusty and Freddy.
