Obituary

Jaime Cardenas Jr. passed away on August 7, 2022, at the age of 19.

Jaime was born on April 25, 2003, in San Antonio Texas. He grew up in his hometown of San Antonio, the proud son of Evelyn Cardenas, brother of Aaron Jay Cardenas, and grandson of Margarita Ruiz. From a very early age Jaime had aspirations that would set him apart from others.

Anyone who knew Jaime recognized quickly that his potential was endless. He was employed at Whataburger. He enjoyed peaceful moments to himself, listening to music, where he could get creative with his drawings. His artistic talents didn't end with his drawings but were also present in his amateur photography. His medium of choice for capturing images? The unconventional polaroid camera. That was Jaime, unconventional yet extraordinary. He enjoyed passing time gaming with either his PlayStation or a timeless board game. As a teenager, Jaime was beginning to define himself for his future. He could and would easily pick up a hobby or past time like skateboarding one day, take a break then pick it back up like no time had passed before.

Jaime enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversations, making someone smile, feeling hopeful for the future of those he knew, and while his life must end, his love doesn't. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds. He was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Jaime exists now in our memories and will be cherished indefinitely. Forever and always will he be that young man, in his favorite blue hoodie, who unknowingly inspired those around him to be better individuals. Jaime was our shining star that faded too soon.

He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Cardenas; brother, Aaron Jay Cardenas; grandmother, Margarita Ruiz; aunts, Laura Ruiz and Angie Ruiz; uncle, Roger Ruiz; in addition to many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Chapel Service beginning at 6:00 pm where family and friends are invited to come forward and share a special memory in honor of Jaime. A formal funeral procession will depart Castillo Funeral Home Friday, August 26, 2022, at 10:30 am for interment with a graveside service at San Jose Burial Park.
