Obituary

James Edward Hoover Sr, 57, husband of Alicia Perez Hoover, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, March 27, 2023, at his residence in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on September 10, 1965, in Staunton, Virginia a son of Eva 'Sue' Crenshaw and the late Rodger J. Hoover.

James known to all as 'Eddie' was born and raised in a small area of Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains located in the Shenandoah Valley. He would recount memories, stories of mischief, and life lessons he learned growing up in a small town that had little to offer while being the middle child of 3 brothers. Eddie especially recalled fond memories of "granddad and grandma", where he credited his grandad as being the most influential person he knew ever. In the mid 1980's Eddie met his new neighbor Alice, a young woman from Texas who was unlike anyone he had ever seen or met before. Eddie and Alice had two children, James and Jessica while living in Virginia. In the mid 1990's Eddie had a debilitating accident at the workplace that would change life as he and all those around him knew it to be. From that day on he never knew what life was like without physical pain. He relocated to San Antonio, Texas where he grew close to the family he married into and embraced all that came with such a large transition. He would travel anywhere and try anything. Eddie especially loved waters he could fish in, the beach and all that nature had to offer, even on his best days he mustered up the strength to live life and make memories. Throughout his life he took pride in his appearance; a clean flat top haircut and taking good care of his clothes, hats, and especially his shoes. He became a grandfather or 'pop' in 2013 and then again in 2018, a role he cherished. Felt and known in the way he beamed with light when he spoke of them or how he immortalized their names in a tattoo that was part of a vast collection he had. He was soft spoken and gentle, compassionate, generous with anything he had, and he was supportive of those around him. He was most happy at home, catching up with his family about their daily lives and sharing a meal. He was never afraid to let his wife, children and grandchildren know how much he loved them and how proud he was. He had daily conversations with the Lord through prayer and truly found comfort knowing that one day he would be reunited with those who have gone before. His lose is immeasurable and one that can never be fully comprehended, he fought the good fight and left this world peacefully in his sleep at home, the way he wanted. Remembered forever until we see you again.

He is reunited in heaven with his brother, Michael Wayne Hoover; sister, Melissa Dawn Hoover; maternal grandparents, Iva Bess (Herron) Varner and Fay Matthew Varner; father, Rodger James Hoover; stepfather, Hubert Crenshaw; uncle, Dale Matthew Varner (Dorothy); cousin, John William Davis Jr; and longtime family friend, Richard D. Crawford Sr.

Hoover Jr; daughter, Jessica Lynn Hoover; grandchildren, Evella Maye Martinez, and Saint Edward Hoover; mother, Eva Susan Crenshaw of Staunton Virginia; a brother, David Lee Hoover of Staunton, Virginia; aunt, Dorothy Clark of Churchville, Virginia; in addition to numerous brother in-laws and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends from Texas to Virginia.
