Our beloved mother and wife, Janie Caldera, was called to be with the Lord on April 25, 2023, at the age of 73. She was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Rolando B. Caldera Sr.; her children Carlos Ancira (Diane), Crist Martinez (Adriana Vasquez), Christine Caldera, Rhoda Ansualda (Daniel), Rolando Caldera Jr., and Orlando Caldera (Lily) along with 21 wonderful and loving grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends.

Throughout her life Janie had many personal joys that gave her pleasure. She always surrounded her home with beautiful plants, animals and never had enough of either one. She always took great pride in her appearance from her make-up always done flawlessly, to wearing bright and colorful pattern blouses with her beautiful gold jewelry and sparkling brooch pins to match whatever holiday was being celebrated at the moment. She enjoyed daily car rides with her husband and taking any kind of short road trips from sight-seeing to small towns. Janie enjoyed the small things in life and most of all she loved her family unconditionally. She later became a game show addict that took up most of her daily activity. Above all, her love and devotion for God and Jesus Christ our Lord was her greatest passion that she dedicated herself to, with daily prayer and weekly mass. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Visitation will take place at Castillo Funeral Home on Monday, May 8, 2023 from 4pm until 8pm with a Rosary to begin at 6:00pm. Family and friends will depart at 8:15 am from the funeral home for a 9:00am Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Charity at www.olsjbasilica.org
