Obituary

Janie G. Vaquera born on July 28, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2026. She was preceded in death by her Father Pedro Vaquera, Mother Ramona G. Vaquera, and sister Margaret Dominguez. She is survived by her loving partner Ramona "Mona" Gomez; brothers, Tom Chavez of California, Pete Vaquera (Frances), sisters Angelita Martinez, Mary Gomez (Richard) Maria Mora (John) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A firm believer in hard work and perseverance, Janie attended St. Phillip's College, earning an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Real Estate on May 15, 1983. She soon began a distinguished career with Diamond Shamrock, later Valero, where she dedicated 40 years of loyal service before retiring-

Retirement opened the door to many of the things Janie loved most. She enjoyed traveling on cruises, trying her luck at the casinos, and creating lasting memories with Mona, family, and friends. An avid Elvis Presley fan, she could often be found enjoying her favorite music and celebrating life's simple pleasures. Janie embraced every moment with enthusiasm and gratitude.

She lived life fully and inspired those around her to do the same.

While alive she lived!

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Heart to Heart Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Janie during her final journey.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Janie's life at Castillo Funeral Home on Tuesday August 4, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will continue Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with a procession departing at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at San Juan De Los Lagos church. Following the mass Janie will be laid to rest at San Fernando Cemetery No. 3.

Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Janie's love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
