Jeannette Orona
Martinez
February 6, 1969 – October 9, 2025
In Loving Memory of Jeannette Orona Martinez
February 6, 1969 – October 9, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt,
and friend, Jeannette Orona Martinez, who was called home by the Lord on
October 9, 2025, at the age of 56. She joins her parents, Frank L. Martinez and
Norma O. Martinez, in eternal rest.
Born on February 6, 1969, Jeannette was a vibrant and generous soul who
brought joy, laughter, and love to everyone she met. She had a heart of gold and
a spirit that was as sweet as the candy she shared with San Antonio, Tx through
her cherished family business, Santa Cruz Candies (Dulcería) — a legacy started
by her parents in 1976. Her joyful calls of "Chicharrónes, candies, cookies!" at
the Mission Open Air Market became a beloved tradition for many.
Jeannette carried on with her family's legacy with pride and passion, greeting
every customer with her beautiful smile and kind words. Her selflessness knew
no bounds — always ready to help others, even when her need was greater. She
had an extraordinary gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved.
Above all, Jeannette was a devoted mother to her only daughter, Frances M.
Bernal, who survives her. The bond they shared was unbreakable, rooted in
unconditional love and deep friendship. She leaves behind her siblings, Yolanda
M. Gil, Paul O. Martinez, John O. Martinez, and numerous nieces and nephews
who will miss her dearly.
Jeannette was more than family — she was a true friend, a fierce supporter, and
a light in all our lives. Her warmth, generosity, and laughter will be missed
beyond measure, and the memories she created with us will live on forever.
Though the world feels a little less sweet without her, Jeannette's love and spirit
will remain in our hearts always.
May she rest in eternal peace.
