Jesse
Caldera
May 16, 1938 – February 20, 2025
In Loving Memory of Jesse Caldera
Jesse Caldera, a devoted father, loving grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.
Jesse was a man whose heart knew no bounds. He lived his life with selflessness, always putting his family first. He was the rock of the family, the one who held everyone together through life's ups and downs. He promised that he would always keep his family united, and he kept that promise. After losing the love of his life, Norma Magaña Caldera, Jesse never remarried—his heart belonged to her, and his devotion remained with his family. No matter what challenges came their way, he made sure they faced them together, always finding a way to bring joy and laughter along the journey.
Beyond his devotion to his loved ones, Jesse had a deep passion for the Dallas Cowboys. No matter how many seasons passed without a championship, he remained their most loyal fan. Through every game, every play, and every heartbreak, his faith in his team never wavered—much like the Cowboys' ability to disappoint him. But that never stopped him from believing that this would be their year. Now, with Jesse watching from above, maybe—just maybe—the Cowboys will finally get it together and win one in his honor.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Eleazar and Dominga Caldera; his beloved wife, Norma Magaña Caldera; his daughter, Deborah Zavala; and his brothers, Abel Caldera, David Caldera, Robert Caldera, and Carlos Caldera.
He is survived by his loving siblings: Edward Caldera, Margaret Sanchez, Rosa Zepeda, Carmen Uriegas, Richard Caldera, and Sandra Gallegos. Jesse also leaves behind his cherished children, Frank Morris Plata and Marie Caldera, as well as his stepson, Richard Carrasco. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous family members and friends who will continue to carry his love and legacy forward.
His life will be honored with a visitation on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m., at Castillo Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. A Mass will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
Though he is no longer with us, Jesse's love, laughter, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and loyalty—to his family and to the Cowboys—will forever be cherished.
Rest easy, Jesse. May you watch over us with the same love and devotion you always showed. And if you have any pull up there, maybe send the Cowboys a little divine intervention.
