Jesse S. Camacho, 88, widower of Amanda T. Camacho, went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2024, at his residence in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on January 28, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas, a son of the late Evangelina and Jesus Camacho.
Jesse led a remarkable life filled with his passions and accomplishments. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. In 1958 he enlisted and was honorably discharged in 1964 serving his years as a Military Policeman. Prior to his retirement, he dedicated 30 years to a career with the I.N.S. (Immigration and Naturalization Service).
He touched the lives of many through his philanthropy, community involvement and contributions. He was active in the American G.I. Forum during the 1970s, participation in the St. Timothy Conference and the president of the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul during the years of 2000-2011.
He was fond of music and enjoyed country, Tejano and Regional Mexican Music. An avid sports fan whose favorite teams were the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. His free time was spent outside, gardening.
We will forever cherish the memories of Jesse's remarkable life and the impact he made on all those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Amanda T. Camacho and parents Evangelina Sanchez Camacho and Jesus H. Camacho.
Family members include three sons, Jesse Camacho III, Johnny Camacho and Albert Camacho; a granddaughter, Alison Camacho; and numerous extended family members.
The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a rosary service.
A funeral mass will be conducted on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 10:00 am in St. Timothy Catholic Church. The burial will follow with a graveside service in San Fernando Cemetery III.
