Jesse F. Ochoa was born on October 4, 1936 in San Antonio, TX and passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026 at 1:15 a.m., at the age of 89. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Anita Zuniga, his Father, Raymundo P. Ochoa and stepmother, Lillie H. Ochoa; sisters, Rosa Zuniga, Viola Ochoa, and Josefina Solis, brother Robert Z. Ochoa, half-sister, Linda H. Ochoa, half-brothers, Richard H. Ochoa, Gilbert H. Ochoa and Victor H. Ochoa: He is survived by brother Raymond Z. Ochoa (Olga), half-brothers, Raymond H. Ochoa (Helen) and David H. Ochoa (Norma), and half-sisters, Sylvia O. Lawson (John Gomez), Barbara O. Galdeano (Xavier) and Adele O.
Garza; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in San Antonio and Dallas area.
Jesse was known as Chuy to his family and friends. Later in his 80's he was nicknamed as "JR" after JR Ewing from the Dallas Show.
Chuy joined the U.S. Marines at the age of 17. He served in the Vietnam War. He was an Operational Communications Chief. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1973. He was always proud of being a Marine and always shared stories of his time during his 23 years of service.
After retirement he was a Bar Owner with his brother Raymundo, known as "Feva". He enjoyed going fishing and would drive his RV to the coast. He spent a lot of his free time in Port Aransas known as the "Fishing Capital of Texas". He also loved going to casinos and would often make his visits to Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass, TX and occasionally to WinStar Casino in Oklahoma.
Jesse will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his generosity and the friendships he built throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen Drive, San Antonio, TX 78228.
Procession will depart Castillo Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. for Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church at 1204 Castroville Rd, San Antonio,
TX 78237. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
