Jesse Ramirez
Ruiz
October 19, 1944 – January 29, 2022
Jesse R. Ruiz was born on October 19, 1944 in San Antonio, Tx. He returned to the House of Our Lord at the age of 77 on January 29, 2022. He was surrounded by family as he continues his journey with God.
Jesse, known as "Mamo or Chuy Canas" to his family and friends, worked for the City of San Antonio for 30 years and retired at age 56 and enjoyed his retirement to the fullest.
Mamo was a simple man and enjoyed being with his family, dancing, and traveling. New Year's Eve celebration were one of his greatest joys, he particularly liked to buy many rolls of firecrackers and then pass them onto his son-in-law Rigo and his grandchildren to pop!
The Jean St neighborhood he called home respected and loved him as well:
Andrea "Andi" gives thanks to Chuy for putting up with the neighborhood kids back in the day and for letting us use his yard as a baseball field, a wrestling ring, a football field and hang out spot.
Mamo taught us many life-lessons of being very loving, generous, compassionate and kind human beings by putting those words into action.
If he could help you, he would, without a doubt offering a helping hand.
Those closest to Mamo knew of his famous sayings which were: Sí Dios quiere; ok, man; simón ese; call me El Jefe; cuando ay, ay y cuando no ay, no ay.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his two daughters: Cynthia Mewbourne & Barbara Becerra and husband, Rigo Becerra.
Three loving grandchildren: Monica Gutierrez and husband, Juan; Jonathan Becerra and Anissa Becerra; Liz Luna, sister; Annabel (LizAnn); niece ; Steven and Bryan, nephews and many cousins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Castillo Mission Funeral Home, Gen. McMullen, San Antonio, Tx.
