Obituary

Jesse Rodriguez, Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family; he was 82 years old.  He was born in Monterrey, Mexico on November 8, 1938.

Jesse was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was a proud graduate of Fox Tech High School class of 1959. On May 14, 1961 he married his beautiful wife of 45 years, Guadalupe Rodriguez, who preceded him in death in 2006.  He was a sheet metal worker for most of his life, and later retired to enjoy time with his family. He treasured the beautiful memories he created with his family throughout his 82 years on this earth.

For many years he was a beloved coach of men's softball, CYO, and YMCA sports. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and the Texas Longhorns.  Jesse also enjoyed working on his flower garden and fruit trees.  Most precious to Jesse was his family and faith in God.  Jesse was an active member at Christ The King Church.  He served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Fishers of Men for many years.

Jesse is also preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Rosa Rodriguez, and siblings Lupito Rodriguez, Juanita Valladares, and Jose Luis Rodriguez.  He is survived by his brothers Gilberto (Rosie), Jorge (Francisca), Raul (Sylvia), and Carlos (Anna) Rodriguez, and sisters Rosita (Rudy) Gonzales and Graciela Riojas.

Jesse is loved and will be greatly missed by his children Diana Romo (Felix), Christina Gonzalez (Joel), Linda Ortegon (Ralph), Jesse Rodriguez, Jr. (Cynthia); his 11 Grandchildren: Felix J. Romo, Jr., Michael Romo (Stephani), Lisa M. Casarez (Joe), Matthew A. Gonzalez, Eric A. Gonzalez, Ryan A. Ortegon, Lauren M. Ortegon, Miranda N. Ortegon, Amy J. Rodriguez, Jesse D. Rodriguez III, Gabriella F. Rodriguez; his 10 Great-Grandchildren: Jason F. Romo, Joshua A. Romo, Layla N. Romo, Isaiah M. Romo, Caleb A. Romo, Ashton J. Romo, Ariana and Aidan Ortiz, Dolores Y. and Kane J. Casarez, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended Family in Monterrey, Mexico.

On Thursday December 10, 2020 @ Castillo Mission Funeral Home, Public Visitation will be restricted to the hours of 3-5 pm due to COVID-19.  Virtual Livestream visitation will begin @ 5 pm followed by a Rosary which will be recited at 6:00 pm.  On Friday, December 11th at 10 am there will be a mass at Christ The King Catholic Church, which will be restricted to livestream. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II, which will also be live streamed.  See below for Livestream Information.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to VITAS Healthcare.  Especially to Team 566: Nurse Jennifer, Aide Luis, Father Christopher, Chaplain Emily, Chaplain Michel, and other staff members.

A special thanks to Romo Paint & Body Shop: Mr. Romo, Felix Sr., Jerry and Josiah Romo for always being there for our dad when he needed assistance.

We would also like to send a heart felt thank you to Janie Montalvo for being a loving companion to our dad.
