Jesus
Castaneda
June 15, 1938 – June 16, 2023
Jesus Castañeda, 85, husband of Juanita Castañeda, went to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon, June 16, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on June 15, 1938, in Mexico, a son of the late Martina Valadez and Nasario Castañeda.
Jesus accomplished much in life but was especially proud of his family and his mariachi career. He loved to tell stories of his trips to Colorado and Saudi Arabia where he would play in his mariachi group. He loved to sing and fix instruments, he truly enjoyed being apart of the Mexican folk-derived musical ensemble that is symbolic of Mexican music and culture. He valued time spent with family, gathering with family and friends to play loteria making memories that are so cherished, especially now. He always enjoyed his coffee and pan dulce which will always be a combination that reminds us of our beloved Jesus. He was an incredible husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered forever by all those who knew him and will be missed until we all meet again. We will hear you sing and play music in our hearts and cannot wait until that time comes again.
In addition to his parents, Martina Valadez and Nasario Castañeda, he is also preceded in death by his two sons, Ricardo Leos and Juan Rebollosa.
Family members include his wife of 63 years, Juana Castañeda; children, Olga Roman, Alma Rosa Leos, Luz Elena Leos, Ramiro Castañeda (Rosalva Castañeda), and Sergio Castañeda; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary Service beginning at 6:00 pm.
