Jesus "Chuy" Martinez, 82, of Cibolo, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Cibolo, Texas, on January 1, 1943, Chuy spent over 15 years working maintenance at Lackland Air Force Base. He was known for his assertiveness and proactive approach to every project entrusted to him. His career journey reflected his dedication and versatility – beginning as a custodial worker, advancing to custodian leader, and later taking on roles as a room attendant, quality assurance specialist and maintenance worker. He was also known for his warm, vibrant smile that could brighten any room.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Paula Martinez; sons Jesus Martinez with wife Teresa Martinez, Pablo Martinez with wife Darlene Martinez; daughter Patricia Behn with husband John Behn; and son Martin Martinez with husband H. Drew Galloway.

Grandchildren: Nexis Novoa, Nicholas Novoa, Jessica Martinez, Samantha Martinez, Alyssa Martinez, Ashley Martinez, Jesus Martinez Jr., Sophie Martinez, Khole Martinez, Lonnie Martinez, Melonie Martinez, Ava McCaleb, David Salinas, and Andy Salinas.

Drew, Graham, Ashley, Rene, Kimberly, and Johnathan.

Great-grandchildren: Keon, Kohen, Nicholas Jr., Scarlet, Khaleesi, Ashtyn, Charlotte, and Ozzy.

He is preceded in death by his sons Johnny Martinez and Humberto Salinas.

Chuy was one of the last of his kind. He protected his own fiercely he put his children above all else, no matter the circumstances.  For him, family was always the highest priority, and his love knew no bounds.

His family will remember him simply and honestly:

"Ese sí es hombre."
"That one right there, is a real man."

Per his wishes, there will be no public services. The family will honor his life privately.
