Obituary

Jesus M. Sandoval

September 8, 1945 - December 30, 2023

Jesus Martinez-Sandoval, 78, was born September 8th, 1945 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. In 1968, Jesus met Maria in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon and then went on to live out the rest of his life in San Antonio, Texas until December 30th, 2023. Jesus Martinez-Sandoval is survived by his wife Maria and five children, Joaquin, Blanca, Brenda, Gerardo and Carmen. In addition, he is also survived by his existing grand-children, Breanna, Carlos, Stephanie, Samuel, Jadan, Eliana, Ambrose, Aiden, Isabella, Amelia and Maribel. And lastly, his great grand-children, Sofia and Josie.

As we reflect on the full life he lived, we remember him exploring a variety of different hats, but his virtue was always placing love before all things. In this position, he loved all of his kids, his grandchildren, and his beloved wife dearly. He was very passionate about each child and grand-child living the best life possible and always striving for the best. Some of his signature life lessons were centered around his famous quote, "Adelante Con La Cruz". This was generally applied to dreams you were chasing, a family you were trying to raise, a particular job, health or just an obstacle in your daily life. As far as his grand-children, he was the grand-father you wished everyone had the opportunity to experience as a child. His love was always evident in the room when he was there with you.

Love for his country and the many things he was passionate about never came short. If it wasn't his determination to spend an entire weekend watching soccer the entire day, particularly his beloved Tigres or Team Mexico, supporting his boxing greats (Canelo/Eric Morales) was also dear to him. Music was his kryptonite as he found it difficult to resist dancing the night away when he could. He channeled his passion for music by playing the piano or listening to Richard Clayderman. All of this while enjoying some of his favorite spirits, Bud Light and Tequila Centenario. Low maintenance enjoyments included a cup of cafecito, a game of chess or a nice restaurant with mariachis. A game of pool was always one of his favorites, but for all those who played with him, he never called his shots and hilariously took victories when balls fell in that he did not call. His personality was deceptive to those who did not know him. To many he was this sweet old man, but little did they know he also had a strong personality. He was a no nonsense type of person when needed and he did not think twice about fortifying his principles and beliefs. A savant he was in survival skills, as his methods were unparalleled. He was always proficient in making something out of nothing and a protector when it came down to his family. His sense of humor was not for everyone. It was like he was always sitting, marinating while his opportunity to go off presented itself and he would hit you with stories and his hilarious jokes. His memorable santa-like laugh and immense smile was not to be mistaken.

Noneless, one of his last ultimate factors was that he was one of the most determined individuals one could know as he faced adversity. Nothing stopped him from living his life, as even being diagnosed legally blind wasn't even a factor from continuing to live his life to the fullest.

To look on to understand the peace in his next chapter, Jesus Martinez-Sandoval did not enter the kingdom of Heaven alone as he had been welcomed by his predeceased siblings, Thomas, Manuel, Guadalupe and Mercedes who had waited long for his arrival however, he is still survived by his sister Hermila.

As we mourn the loss of Jesus M. Sandoval, it's impossible to ignore the void that his departure leaves behind. But it's also impossible to forget the life, the laughter, and the love that he shared so generously with us all. Despite everything leading up to his loss, he never lost his charisma, his spirit, his relentless sense of humor and more importantly his love for his family. Though these are some of the things that can not be buried- the memories of it will live on, in each one of us, in every life he touched, in every heart he warmed.

As we say our final goodbyes to Jesus M.Sandoval, we do not just mourn the end of his life. We celebrate the beauty of his spirit, the echo of his santa-like laughter, and the warmth of his love that lingers in our hearts. And in our sorrow, his journey on earth may have ended but we find solace in knowing that his spirit lives on within us, mirrored in our actions, and guiding us forward.

Rest in peace, to a husband, father, and grand-father. And so, you are not truly gone. You are here, within us, around us, and part of the very fabric of our lives. And in that, Dad and Abuelo, you have achieved immortality. We love you, and your spirit dances on in every beat of our hearts. Vaya con Dios con los brazos abiertos, ya que nuestros corazones permanecerán siempre abiertos para ti. Con todo nuestro amor, te amo Papa, Jesusin, Jefe, y Abuelo.
