JoAnn Ibarra Jimenez , of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 2 6 , 2022 , at the age of 65 . JoAnn was born on November 20, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, to Antonio & Dolores Ibarra . JoAnn moved to Dallas, Texas, in her early twenties to work at a family restaurant . JoA nn then became a loyal employee of 43 years at Baylor University Medical Center. Here JoAnn worked wholeheartedly being of service to the patients, staff and her c o-workers. Her dedication was such that if the weather was inclement, she would spend the night at the hos pital so she would not miss work the next day. JoAnn loved her Baylor family and the many friends she made along the way. JoAnn will b e missed by her Baylor f amily. JoAnn had a servant's heart and answered the c alling to serve at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Dalla s, Texas, a s a n MC, Eucharistic Minister, r eligious teacher and would volunteer tirelessly for fundraisers , festivals, and youth group retreats . She was also an Eagle Scout Mom. JoAnn touched the lives of several generations of families becoming a Madrina to the many young people's life she touched with her love . "Proverbs 27:17 As Iron sharpens Iron so one person sharpens another." JoAnn lived this verse daily with her encouragement and love as a s ervant to God, as a mom to her beloved son Joshua, as a daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, G odmother, parishioner, friend, and co-worker. JoAnn will be missed by all those whose lives she touched whether it was traveling with her family , volunteering, watc hing her beloved Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers or San Antonio Spurs, family outings or spending time with her son . JoAnn never failed to send birthday or anniversary blessings to family, friends or co-workers. JoAnn was loved very much by many and will be missed by many.
JoAnn is preceded i n death by her parents , Antonio and Dolores Ibarra , and her brother, Louis Ibarra . She is survived by her son: Joshua Jimenez (Cecilia) . JoAnn is also survived by her s iblings , Arthur Ibarra (Stella), Rosie Gary, Pat Ibarra, Angie Moore (Benny) , and Henry Ibarra (Jackie), and her s ister-in-law, Patty Ibarra. She is survived by numerous n ieces, nephews, and extended family .
Funeral mass will be held, Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 10:00 am, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 2004 Chihuahua Street, San Antonio, Texas 78207. Viewing will be held, Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and rosary at 3:00 pm, at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78228.
Burial procession will be on Monday , December 5, 2022, at the Castillo Funeral Home , at 9:00 am with a 9:30 am departure , followed by interment at San Fernando Catholic Cemetery II , 746 Castroville, San Antonio, Texas 78207. The family invites you to celebrate JoAnn 's life at a meal to be held in the fellowship hall of St. Jude Catholic Church, 130 S. San Augustine, San Antonio, Texas 78237, following the burial services.
