Obituary

Joe (Joey) Cantu, age 59, received his angel wings and entered into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 6, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.

Born on May 5, 1965, in Walla Walla, Washington, to Maria Luisa Solis and Joe Cantu, Joey was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. A true entrepreneur, he had a passion for collectibles, antiques, and antiquities. His adventurous spirit and sharp eye made him a natural in his field.

Joey had a deep and unconditional love for his mother, whom he cherished above all else. Their bond was unbreakable and a testament to the strength of family. Joey was humble, selfless, and kind—always seeing the best in others and living as a reflection of Christ's love.

Known for his artistic abilities and great sense of humor, Joey was the family jokester, often teasing his sisters and filling their lives with laughter. He had a love for dancing, music, storytelling, and San Antonio favorites like Thai food, Pho, salsa, and raspas. Above all, Joey adored his family and was loved deeply in return.

To know Joey was to love him. His generous heart, warm spirit, and joyful presence will be missed more than words can express.

Joey is survived by his loving mother, Maria Solis Cantu and siblings; Ellena Ceja (Jose), Thelma Peña (Javier), Eufamia Cantu (Jess), Ruben Cantu (Debbie), Erica Reyes (Raul), Pricilla Ramirez (Jonathon), 13 nephews, 6 nieces, and 21 great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved lifelong partner Andrew Llamas, his sister Eloisa Cantu, and his father Joe Cantu.
