Joe B.
Espinoza
September 5, 1922 – December 3, 2020
Joe B. Espinoza was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the blessed age of 98. He was born September 5, 1922 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Jose and Teresa Espinoza. He was preceded in death by his parents, his dear wife Lydia H. Espinoza and his son-in-law, Edward M. Torralva. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his children Robert Espinoza (Maria Elia), Gilda Torralva, Diana Flores (Richard); 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother Oscar Espinoza; as well as extended family members and friends. Heaven has gained our most beloved blessing. He will live forever in our hearts.
He was a professional photographer and worked many years at the UT Health Science Center as a medical photographer. Prior to UTHSC, he worked at Tobin Aerial Surveys where he processed aerial photos for map surveys. He loved the big band sound of the 40s and was a musician himself who played the piano and trumpet in various orchestras including his own. One of his many talents also includes artistic sketching abilities. He was never formally trained but a talent that was very impressive since his years in school. Due to the lack of opportunity and his other interests, he never pursued it professionally and it became a hobby that he enjoyed.
His love for photography and video is evident by the large collection of heirloom photographs and videos he left his family. He documented and photographed his family since the 1940s in 16 mm film to 8 mm, VHS and DVD. Every family event from weddings, holidays, birthdays, graduations and anniversaries were recorded by him. We are very thankful for the pictures and videos of our happiest and most significant moments he has left us to cherish. His children and grandchildren have carried on the love of photography/video and art sketching.

In order to comply with social distancing measures during the pandemic, the family has requested to limit the funeral on Monday, December 14th to immediate family only.
