Joe Phillip Hernandez was born November 9, 1976, in San Antonio, Texas and went to be with our Lord on August 20, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his father Robert Ovalle; maternal grandmother, Henriqueta Hernandez; maternal grandfather, Luciano Hernandez; paternal grandfather, Casemiro Ovalle; Mother-in-law, Juanita Narvaez; niece, Dominique Orta.

Joe leaves behind to cherish in his memory his wife of 24 years, Lydia Hernandez. He also leaves behind his children, Bryana Marsden, Arianna G. Hernandez, Amanda J. Hernandez, Alexandra Hernandez, Joe Phillip Hernandez Jr., and Juliana M. Hernandez; his 2 grandchildren and expected grandchildren; a grandson and granddaughter; in addition to his mother, Patricia Hernandez; and stepfather, Daniel Hernandez.

Joe had many accomplishments and created many memories with all who knew him during his lifetime. Those times shared together will stay with us forever. He was deeply loved and brought immense joy to those around him. We loved his sense of humor, his cooking and barbequing, and his caring ways. Joe will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Castillo Mission Funeral Home from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A procession will depart Castillo Mission Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. for the funeral mass at St. Josephs Catholic Church to begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at San Fernando III Catholic Cemetery.
