Joe I. Moreno was born in Boerne, TX, on July 31st, 1963. He died peacefully in Universal City on January 18th, 2020 of complications from lung cancer. Joe graduated from Lanier high school in 1982. His professional work included managing HEB food stores for 37 years and then managing King Super food stores in Denver, CO for the past 3 years. His parents, Gorgonio Zul Moreno and Trinidad Flores; sisters, Gloria Galvan, Rosie Adame, Hope Perez, Grace Montez, Victoria Esquivel, Corina De Los Reyes, Yolanda Montez and Jeanette Montez, preceded him in death. Joe was the only male born to the family of 11 children. He is survived by his life companion and spouse, Jeffery Scott Binam; his sisters, Maria Juanita Luera and Cruz Monreal; and by his nieces and nephews. Joe was a die-hard fan of the San Antonio Spurs and loved the annual Fiesta celebration in San Antonio. He was devoted to his family and friends. He was a beloved brother and uncle. Joe was known to be kind, joyful, a leader and courageous. He will be truly missed by family, friends and everyone whose lives he touched. Visitation will be held at Castillo Mission Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Procession will depart at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, for a 9:30 Mass of Christian Burial at St. Monica Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
