Joel settled in San Antonio, TX where he always strived to work hard for his family. In his younger years, and once he obtained his U.S. Residency, he would visit his parents and siblings every Summer with his wife and children. He would take whatever he could fit in suitcases for his family in Zacatecas, and would even leave the vehicles themselves behind. The doors of his home were always open to family working to get on their feet. In his later years, what he enjoyed most was being at home in his living room or in his blue truck. He loved drinking a cold one, eating peanuts and listening to his music. He was known for his joy, positive attitude, his infectious laughter, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

He is preceded in death by his brother Saul Miranda.
