Joel G.
Ramos
December 9, 1929 – September 7, 2020
In the early morning of September 7, 2020, our father, Joel G Ramos, was called to his final resting place to be with his beloved wife, Gloria. He was born December 9, 1929 in Del Rio, Texas. He spent his final years at Brookdale Assisted Living where he made friends with many of the staff. About 1 year ago he was placed in the care of Brookdale Hospice. He spent most of the day watching television and doing other activities with Brookdale staff. Family would come to take him to spend the day eating out on special days and holidays. On Sundays, you could find him watching his Dallas Cowboys then complaining why they lost. He also loved to watch old westerns and old scary movies. Although he had lost most of his sight, he could still tell what old western was on by the voices of the show.
This past December his family had a large 90th birthday party for him complete with food, cake and Mariachis. You could tell he was happy to have all of his family celebrating with him. Family meant a lot to him. He truly loved his 4 sons and their families.
Joel Ramos served in the United States Army during the Korean war era and was honorably discharged. He married his beautiful wife Gloria in May 1954. They were married for 37 years until her passing in 1991. He worked at Kelly AFB for 33 years where he retired.
He is survived by his eldest son Joel Jr., wife Elba, their children Priscilla, Christopher, Eric, Brian, Crystal and Arianna. His son Michael and his children Stephan, Austin, Kara and Kellie. His son Roger, wife Cindy and their son Rhett. His youngest son Ronnie, girlfriend Tracy and his children Clay and Caitlin. Joel Ramos also had 4 great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his father, mother, brother and 2 sisters.
…the hardest part wasn't losing you,
It was learning to live without you…
Love you Grandpa… Miss you…
