Obituary

John Anthony Acosta entered into eternal rest on July 19, 2025 at the age of 62. He was born on November 6, 1962 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Juan and Rita Acosta.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Rita Acosta, and his beloved dog, Pork Chop.

John attended Thomas A. Edison High School and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1982. Alongside his parents and brother Javier, John helped build the family business from the ground up, starting behind the family home before opening Olmos Park Paint and Body in 1979. A gifted auto painter, John had a remarkable ability to restore vehicles to their pre-loss condition. His perfectionism and pride in his craft earned him great respect in the industry. He worked at the shop until his retirement in 2017.

Outside of work, John was a true outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing. He cherished spending quality time with family and friends and was happiest surrounded by those he loved.

John is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his children: Mercedes Nicolette Acosta, John Anthony Acosta (Mayra), and Alexus Mary Acosta; his grandchildren: Alayna Acosta and Anthony Acosta; his siblings: Deborah Acosta and Javier Acosta (Lisa); and his sidekick nephew, Alex Salas. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Leslie Maes and her son, Matt Maes; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

John's legacy of hard work, love, and laughter will live on through all who knew him.

Heaven has gained a treasured soul.
