Obituary

Johnny Torres Sanchez was born in San Antonio, Texas, on June 20th, 1940. He was born to Juan Sanchez and Luz Torres Sanchez and grew up with kind and warm-hearted brothers and sisters.

He passed away on July 4th, 2026, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home in the city where he was born and spent most of his life. After saying one last good morning to his wife and daughter, he quietly passed away. A well-deserved rest after a faithful life lived.

Johnny worked hard to provide for his family, served his country in the United States Air Force, and dedicated his life to God and the Church. He faithfully attended church all his life, even when on vacation. As a child, he served as an altar boy, and later as a tithe collector and gift bearer. He graduated from Fox Tech, earned college credits and certificates in accounting, and had a long career as a Job steward. He was a member of the local Teamsters Union and fought for workers' rights.

Johnny was a man who loved to laugh and make others laugh. He had a peaceful and unassuming presence that put everyone around him at ease. He had the best sense of humor and cracked a joke every chance he got. He loved spending time with his family, whether it was watching sports or playing games at the dinner table. If you were lucky enough to sit next to him, you would get to hear his stories or chistes. For someone so stoic, he was quite the entertainer.

Johnny was a loving and devoted husband to Alice Sanchez for 63 wonderful years. He was a dependable and exemplary father to his beloved children (Johnny, James, and Josephine) and a strong role model for his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The memories of Johnny will stay in our hearts forever and bring smiles to our faces. He inspired many with his unwavering faith and strong work ethic. He will always be loved and remembered by family and friends. His patience, honesty, generosity, and kindness will guide the generations that come after him.

We praise God that he is in Heaven reunited with loved ones who went before him and experiencing the fullness of joy found in God’s presence.
