Jorge Roberto Sanchez Sr. passed away on February 5, 2024, in the comfort of his home. He was 79 years old. He was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on August 12, 1944.

Jorge served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served from 1966 and retired in 1988 as SFC E7. He served as a medic in the 101st Airborne Division. He had the privilege of being stationed in Fort Riley Kanas, Germany, Fort McClellan Alabama, Hawaii, and Fort Benning Georgia. His picture is showcased at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Museum. Upon his retirement, he earned an associate degree at San Antonio College, where he was inducted into the National Honor Society. He then became a collegiate umpire for basketball and football.

He was a leader for most of his life, and later enjoyed time with his family, playing pool and poker at the VFW, watching his granddaughter grow into a beautiful young lady, and watching his grandson play baseball. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. He will be missed tremendously.

Jorge is also preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Manuela Sanchez; (brothers) Jose, Martin, and Alfredo Sanchez; (Sisters) Norma Herrera and Alicia Barroso. Jorge is loved and will be missed by his son, Jorge Sanchez (Melissa Alvarez); daughters, Laura and Yvette Sanchez (J.R. Perez); 2 grandchildren, Lauren G. Sanchez and Christopher J. Perez; ex-wife, Norma Sanchez; Sisters Lilia Esparza and Lourdes Ramp, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
