Jose Margil
Bustamante
September 1, 1924 – September 5, 2022
Jose Margil Bustamante went to be with the Lord in the early morning of September 5, 2022, at the age of 98.
Jose was born on September 1, 1924, in Asherton Texas, a small town in the southern portion of the state. He was one of five boys born to the late Pablo and Julia Bustamante. Those that knew Jose quickly realized how deeply he loved his family. He and his late wife Crisanta Bustamante shared a sixty-eight-year marriage before her passing. Together they leave behind a daughter Elida and numerous grandchildren who will proudly carry on their legacy of life.
Jose was never one to shy away from the harder jobs in life, in his early years he worked as a migrant farm worker and then as a warehouse produce packer. He would later officially retire from the Redland Worth Corporation. He found gardening rewarding, entertaining and was his getaway from the rest of the world in his own little space. A true outdoorsman, he appreciated the sport and skill of hunting and fishing in his free time.
Jose enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversation, making someone smile, feeling hopeful for the future of those he knew. A true servant of the Lord, he served as a eucharistic minister for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds. He was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Jose will be missed tremendously and while his time in the world must end, his love never will.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Crisanta Bustamante; parents Pablo and Julia Bustamante; and brothers, Tomas Bustamante, Ignacio Bustamante, Domingo Bustamante, and Ramon Bustamante.
He is survived by his daughter, Elida B. Rios (Raul), three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Mission Burial Park North.
