Jose Cruz Castillo (Joe) passed away on February 17, 2026 at the age of 75. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 7, 1950 to Marcos Castillo and Beatrice Castillo.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Army; he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Joe spent his entire career working at Audie Murphy VA Hospital, where he eventually retired as a supervisor. Joe married Rachel Lopez in 1975 and, over their 50 years of marriage, created a beautiful family of 3 kids and 6 grandchildren.

His family will always remember him as a great husband, father, and grandfather who made them feel safe when he was near, taught them right from wrong, always supported their extracurricular activities, provided support for them when they needed it, and gave everything he had for them.

Joe will always be loved and remembered by his wife, Rachel Lopez Castillo; daughter, Jamie Castillo;  sons, Jason Joe Castillo and Christopher Lee Castillo; 6 grandchildren, Alex, Isaiah, Ricky, Jason, Viviana, and Jazmine; and extended family and friends.
