Jose Casillas, 90, of San Antonio, Texas, peacefully passed away on July 11, 2026, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind a profound legacy of love, hard work, and a beautifully extended family tree.
A Life Well-Lived
Born in Torrington, Wyoming, on April 28, 1936, to the late Jose Casillas and Maria Madrid, Jose eventually made his home in San Antonio. He was a man who found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. He possessed a green thumb, spending countless hours transforming his yard through gardening and landscaping. In his downtime, he loved settling in to watch classic Western movies and listening to the storytelling of traditional Corridos. Above all, Jose was a devoted husband. For 64 wonderful years, he was married to the love of his life, Clara, and nothing brought him more joy than taking her out to dances.
Family Legacy
Jose is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Clara O. Casillas; his parents; his siblings, Mike, Valentin, Tomas, Anita, and Pauline; his daughter, Maria Esmeralda; and his grandson, Michael James Womble Jr.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his surviving children:
Matilda ParraLeticia Reyna (Christopher)Joe Rudy Casillas (Sherry Slater)Eddie Casillas (Patricia)Joe Vidal Casillas
Jose’s incredible legacy also flourishes through his 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren, alongside a host of close family members and lifelong friends.
