Obituary

Jose A. Gonzalez was called home to be with the Lord, after a courageous battle with cancer, on March 14, 2022. He was born on October 10, 1962 in San Antonio, TX. He was surrounded by loved ones at his time of passing, including his beloved wife of 18 years, Yolanda, children, and numerous friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto Gonzalez & Maria Gonzalez and siblings; Ernest, Victor and Carmen; and his best friend Daisy (dog). He is survived by his children; Joseph Gonzalez (Esmeralda), Christopher Gonzalez (Crystal), Christy Gonzalez, Adrian Burgos (Vanessa) and Yvette Burgos (Steven); 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 11 granddogs; further survived by his sisters Ida Barrientes, Abby Rodriguez, Sylvia Vasquez; along with loving extended family and friends. Jose is loved and will be missed. Jose was an amazing father, grandfather, husband, brother and uncle. But most of all, he was a good man. When we say "good man" it's not said lightly. The loss of one good man in this world is a massive tragedy. He was a small part of peoples lives, but he played a big role. Jose was a hard-working man, with a huge heart and a passion for helping others. His love of life continued on, especially during his early retirement with his wife. Together they enjoyed traveling, working on their yard, doing DIY projects, morning tacos & coffee at their favorite taqueria, and gambling in Las Vegas. He also had a passion for music. Anytime you would visit with Jose, you would catch him listening to his favorite bands. Music was his favorite pastime. As a devoted family man, Jose was happiest when with his family and made them his priority. Any chance he could, his time was spent with family. Whether it was spending time with grand babies, planning family barbecues, family fishing or camping trips, the goal was always to be together as a family. You could also find him with his sons being ecstatic for football games, especially for his favorite teams: the Dallas Cowboys & the Texas A&M Aggies. When he would watch his games, the room would be filled with his contagious laughter and his smile that could make anyones day. His children had a significant impact on his life. He was always there for them through their ups and downs, and taught them to enjoy the simplicity of life and every moment life has to offer. In Jose's words, "Life is simple and it's what you make of it." His doors were always open any time or day for advice. His children were the love of his life. He spent his younger years devoted to making memories for his 5 kids that they could carry with them for the rest of their lives.
