Obituary

Jose Luis Guillen

Joe Guillen as he was known by everyone and Uncle Joe Guillen by his nieces and nephews.  His true name was Jose Luis Guillen born on June 6, 1951 to Altagracia and Pedro Guillen.  Joe was 70 years old when he went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2022.

Joe was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School where he met his love of his life and married his high school sweetheart Amelia Hernandez Guillen.  They remained married for 49 years.

Joe started working with the Bexar County Sheriff's office as a Security Officer in the County Jail.  Joe was always interested in construction so he worked with concrete all his life.  Joe retired and moved to the country with his wife and they both fulfilled their dreams of living in the country.   During his life he enjoyed living on his farm raising cattle, horses, pigs and chickens.  His passion was outside sports, camping hunting and fishing - He loved life and lived it to the fullest.  Most precious to Joe was his faith in God.  Joe was so happy, he used to say "Thank you Almighty God for fulfilling my dream and blessing me – I love it!"

Joe is loved by so many families and friends and he will be missed tremendously.  We have lost a truly great husband, uncle, family man and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents Altagracia and Pedro Guillen, two brothers Pete Guillen and Jesse Guillen. He lives behind three sisters Mary Escobedo, husband Rick Escobedo; Grace Guillen, partner Cynthia Tapia; Nancy Guillen and a brother Jim Guillen, wife Terry Guillen.  He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and extended family and friends.
