Jose C. Hinojosa (Charles), 74, of San Diego, TX, passed away July 24, 2026.
Charles was the loving husband of Peggy Coronado Hinojosa and the devoted father of Amanda Michelle Hinojosa, Valerie Diane McKinney, Trisha Hinojosa and Joe Flippo.
He was born on July 15, 1952, in San Diego, TX, to Eduardo P. Hinojosa, Sr. and his loving mother Margarita Reyes Hinojosa.
He attended Kennedy High School and was a Vietnam Era Veteran who proudly served in the United States Army for six years, attaining the rank of Sargeant.
Charles was a lifelong Carpenter; but he also chose to help his fellow veterans on their final journey by working at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for almost 20 years.
He loved spending time outdoors; camping, coastal fishing, barbecuing, gardening and especially using his Carpentry skills to build many things for his home, friends and neighbors. Charles greatly enjoyed traveling the country with his family as well as entertaining family, friends and neighbors at his home.
He was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, quiet strength; and his love of always putting his family first, especially his wife and daughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo P. Hinojosa, Sr., Margarita Reyes Hinojosa; as well as his beloved grandmother Manuela Reyes.
Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Peggy Coronado Hinojosa; his beloved daughters Amanda Michelle Hinojosa, Valerie Diane McKinney, Trisha Hinojosa, son Joe Flippo; seven grandchildren Madeleine, Sebastian, Avery and Geordi, Kadin, William and Kestra; as well as three great-grandchildren Christopher Liam, Isabella and Odin. His dearly loved sister Gracie Romo, Sandy Moran and brother Eddie Hinojosa (Esther); nieces Tina Garcia Aguero and Gina Alvarez; nephews, Rudy Alvarez and Vincent Rene Garcia (Leslie); numerous grand nieces and nephews; as well as great-grand nieces and nephews.

Viewing will begin on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 4:00 pm; Rosary is at 6:00 pm; Services end at 8:00 pm.
Final viewing will begin at Castillo Funeral Home, Wednesday morning, August 12, 2026, at 8:30 am; the
Procession will begin at exactly 9:15 am; Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery Memorial is exactly 10:15 am. Charles will be escorted to the Memorial Canopy by Honorary Pall Bearers Rudy Alvarez and Daniel White.
