Obituary

Jose M. Ibanez (July 4, 1938 – April 27, 2024) and Margaret O. Ibanez (September 11, 1936 – November 30, 2020) husband and wife now reunited together in heaven.

Jose attended Edgewood High School. Jose served in the Army National Guard Infantry May 1954 – October 1956, Airforce Reserve May 1957 – July 1963. He worked many jobs but prior to retirement he was working with his son at J & S Paint and Body. Jose loved working in his yard, hunting, fishing, fireworks on New Years and will be remembered for his famous barbacoa and brisket.

Margaret graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1955. She earned her cosmetology certificate in 1955 and retired from SAISD as head pastry chef in May 1999. She loved gardening; especially loved her roses, sewing, baking, shopping and is remembered for her love of chisme, coffee and pan dulce.

Jose and Margaret especially loved and enjoyed the company of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jose and Margaret are reunited in heaven with a grandson, Tristan Tamez; Jose's parents, Manuel and Herminia Ibanez; Margaret's parents, Pedro and Margarita Olivares; Jose's siblings, Manuel Ibanez, Raul Ibanez, Richard Ibanez, Christina Sanchez and Corinna Cavazos; and Margarets siblings, Dolores Berlanga, Lupe Rodriguez, Refugio Olivares, Gloria Darnell, Luis Olivares and Raul Olivares.

Family members include their children, Joe M. Ibanez (Yvonne), Deborah Tamez (Richard), Annette Ibanez (Enrique Gonzales), Margaret Rodriguez (Jamie) and Manuel Ibanez (Christina); 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; Margarets sisters, Irene Gonzales and Sylvia Rodriguez; many cousins, nieces and nephews; in addition to numerous extended family members and friends.

The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Castillo Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 11:30 am. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a, in the Castillo Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow with a committal service at 1:30 pm in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
