Jose Luis Mata Walls passed away on February 3, 2022, at the age of 60.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Mata; mother, Alicia Walls; brother, Alejandro Mata; and his sisters, Alicia Mata Walls and Maria Cristina Mata Walls.

He is survived by his children, Nadia Lackey (Greg Lackey), Jose Carlos Mata (Megan Ables), and Jacqueline Mata (Stevan Garza); his four grandchildren; and his siblings, Manuel Mata Walls, Jesus Mata Walls, Daniel Mata Walls, Maria Luisa Mata Walls, Margarita Mata Walls, Oscar Alberto Miguel, Mata Walls, and Maria Isabel Mata Walls; in addition to leaving numerous

Jose was born on July 22, 1961, in Mexico. He accomplished so many incredible things in life, but he was especially proud of and loved his family. All the memories made together with him will be cherished forever. He could always be counted on to uplift those around him with his jokes and finding any way to put a smile on our faces. One of his favorite things to do was to scratch off lotto tickets in his free time. Jose was extraordinarily hardworking, he especially enjoyed working on cars. He was so knowledgeable and would be a mechanic for all sorts of machinery. He enjoyed watching country western movies. Jose was so full of life during the time he was with us. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds as he was someone who would help and give to anyone in need. He inspired those around him to be a better person. He was devoted to his faith and family and brought immense joy to those around him. We loved his caring ways, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
