Jose (Joe) Mejia a veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of San Antonio Texas, passed away on September 20, 2024 surrounded by family and loved ones. Joe, as he was known by family and friends was born on November 6, 1949 to Elias and Porfiria Mejia and attended Fox Tech High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army.
Joe enlisted in the Army right after high school graduation in 1970 and served until his honorable discharge in 1976.
The U.S. Army recognized Joe with National Defense Service Medal, Marksman (Rifle M-14) and Expert (Rifle M-16). After his service he started his professional career as a Chef at St. Anthony Hotel for a few years and then continued his profession at the Argyle Private Club for the next 35 years.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Elias and Porfiria Mejia, his brothers Ricardo Mejia Sr., Frank Mejia, Antonio Mejia, and grandson Ernest Mejia. He's survived by his loving wife Rosa Mejia, sister Cecilia (Noe) Galindo, brother Paul (Rosalinda) Mejia; children Corina (David) Alvarado, Margaret (Ruben) Alejos, Ricardo Mejia Jr. (Rosie), Alex (Diana) Mejia, Ricky Mejia, Marissa Contreras, Angel Mejia, and Rosemary Mejia and all his grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. The family would like to thank All Seasons Hospice of Texas for all the outstanding care they gave our father.
