Jose Ortiz was born June 3, 1951 in Pearsall, Texas and went to be with our Lord on August 26, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his son, Ernest Ortiz, his father, Jose Ortiz Sr., and his sister Amalia Cueras.

He leaves behind to cherish in his memory his wife of 40 years, Maria De Jesus A. Ortiz, his mother, Celia G. Ortiz, his children, Jose A Ortiz (Isabel), Jessica M. Ortiz (Isaac), Pedro N. Ortiz (Laura), Jordan A. Ortiz (Kelly), Felix Ortiz (Veronica), and Yvonne Ortiz, his 21 grandchildren, a great-grandchild, his siblings, Santos, Ray, Pat (Shirley), Ruben (Diana), Amelia (Eddie), Flora (Ismael), Cecilia (Armando) and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Jose worked for Colonial Cake Co for many years. Jose will be remembered for his love of cars, fixing and detailing them, going to the shooting range, and fishing. He was deeply loved and brought immense joy to those around him. We loved his sense of humor and his caring ways. Jose will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Castillo Mission funeral home from 1:00pm to 5:00pm with a prayer service to be held at 3:00pm.
