Jose Luis
Sanchez, Jr
January 6, 1948 – March 23, 2024
In loving memory of our beloved father Joe Luis Sanchez Jr. who was called home on March 23, 2024 at the age of 76. He is survived by loving wife Herlinda Sanchez, sons Joey Sanchez & Jason Sanchez (Letha), and grandchildren Brianna Kuznetsov (Artiom), Nathon Sanchez & Ryan Sanchez, and siblings Frank Sanchez and Amelia Sanchez. Joe treasured the beautiful memories created with his family throughout his 76 years on earth.
Joe and Herlinda were high school sweethearts, and bonded over their love for music and continued to share this throughout their long and happy marriage of 52 years. Even through his departure in Vietnam, while defending our country, Joe and Herlinda kept an unwavering bond and continued to display their devotion to each other upon his return and throughout their marriage.
Joe was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 6, 1948, and at the age of 18, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, and served time in the Vietnam war, where he bravely served our country. Joe was a Vietnam Veteran who received an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps and an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force.
Among his many passions, Joe treasured gatherings with family and friends. Whether it was a simple Sunday BBQ or a grand Holiday celebration, he found joy in the laughter and love shared with his loved ones. Joe's most recent adventures led him to the American Legion Post #2, where he spent his Fridays dancing the night away and enjoying his favorite music. Here he earned the nickname "Shotgun Joe", after the song by Jr. Walker and the Allstars. His presence and smile made every moment together unforgettable. Joe's achievements, bravery and service to his country will always be remembered.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Luis Sanchez, mother, Sista Sanchez, sisters, Josephina Pawlik, Hermelinda Nino, and brother, Silviano Sanchez.
Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of strength and devotion to family will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in peace, knowing he was dearly loved and will be forever remembered.
The funeral will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Monday April 8, 2024 @ 5pm. All friends and family are welcome.
