Josefa H. Luna
Josefa H. Luna, 82, went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2024. The daughter of Gabriel Herrera and
Juanita Rivera. Josefa H. Luna was born September 30, 1941 in Port Isabel, TX. She was preceded in
death by her parents, husband Eliseo J. Luna Sr., daughter Alma Iris Luna, two brothers Evaristo Herrera,
Eleno R. Vega, and one sister Isabel Gorham.
Left to cherish her memory are one brother, Agapito Herrera, two sisters Frances H. Etheridge, Maria del
Carmen; one sister-in-law, Laura Herrera; one brother-in-law, Evaristo Gorham; and several nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
Josefa is survived by her children, Eliseo Jesus Luna, Jr. (Irma), Mirta Luna-Zelaya (Gonzalo), and
Eugenio R. Luna; 10 grandchildren Eliseo Luna, III (Maria), Zachry Luna, Ariel Alanis (Guillermo),
Kevin Luna, Jimmy Christopher Luna (Catelyn), Maira Zelaya (Glendin), Kelsi Sanchez (Elmer),
Eugenio R. Luna II (Ashlyn), Joshua S. Luna and Cameron M. Luna; 7 great-grandchildren Olivia Alanis,
Guillermo Alanis, Justin Aguilar, Jonathan Aguilar, Alessio Luna, Liam Luna and Livia Luna. Josefa will
also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Josefa served many unlimited days and hours as a domestic engineer. She was dedicated in helping raise
all her grandchildren. She was a dedicated parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church for many years, as
well as a loyal viewer of many "telenovelas". She was known by everyone for being a great storyteller.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at
6:00 p.m. at Castillo Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at
Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
