Obituary

Josefina De La Cruz Davila was called to Heaven on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the age of 76. Josefina was born on December 10, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, to Domitilo and Virginia De La Cruz. Josefina had a large, loving family with six fierce protectors she called brother. Josefina met the love of her life, Tom, and they married in 1972. Together they too built a loving family and Josefina was overjoyed when she became a grandmother. She loved working with children and dedicated her career to making sure the children were fed a hot meal during their lunchtime. Josefina worked for SAISD campuses like Barkley-Ruiz Elementary and Lanier Highschool and for private campuses like St. John Boscoe and Holy Cross. The last few years of her career Josefina enjoyed being a crossing guard, making sure the children walking to school could get across the street safely. Josefina loved to spend time with her family, but she especially loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren! Family gatherings always take place at Josefina and Tom's home, a tradition that will continue on with her family. A loving Wife, a dedicated Mother, and proud grandma are just a few ways to describe our beloved Josefina. She is reunited in Heaven with her beloved Husband of 50 years Tom Davila Sr., her parents Domitilo and Virginia De La Cruz, and brothers Candelario, Frank, and Samuel. Josefina is survived by her son Tom Davila Jr. (Roxanne Davila); daughter Jo Ann Mendoza (Edward); grandchildren John Anthony Mares, Carol Ann Reyes, Crystal Reyes, Angel Espinoza, Ozeano Mendoza, and Alannah Mendoza; great-grandchildren Angel Ann Carrasco, Baylie Martinez, and Xylas Sotomayor; brothers Alberto De La Cruz, Raul De La Cruz, and Alfredo De La Cruz; numerous extended family and friends. Visitation to take place at Castillo Funeral Home on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service to begin at 6:00 p.m. Family and friends will depart in procession at 11:00 a.m. from Castillo Funeral Home on Saturday, October 12, 2024, for a 12:00 p.m. graveside service at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy, 78218.
