Josephine Cruz Preciado, age 92, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. She was born on March 22, 1927 to Lucia M. Cruz and Hencry Cruz in Giddings, Tx. She was the youngest of six children by that marriage and had two other siblings from her mother's previous marriage.

Although she only attended school until the 6th grade, she later in her adult years completed her education and received her GED. She married her first husband, Raul DeHoyos and had two children. She became a widow at the age of 18 years old. In 1947, she married her second husband, Alberto D. Preciado, Sr. and they had four children. They enjoyed dancing and she loved playing softball for many years with the Lady Red Hornets. For the majority of the her life, she was a home maker. In 1975, she received her Nurses Aid License and was a Nurses Aide at Our Lady of the Lake Convent, Sisters of Divine Providence for 5 years. Thereafter, she did HOSPICE Care for 15 years.

Josephine will be fondly remembered by her nickname, Grandma Rock, in which she earned as the Matriarch of her family and by many dear friends. She was best known for her sense of humor, loud jolly laugh, colorful and well put together attire and sparkle.

Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings; Iginio, Gilbert, Willie, Oscar, Anita, Rufina, Delfina, and her son Albert Preciado, Jr. She is survived by her children: Yolanda DeHoyos, Henry DeHoyos, Esmeralda Preciado Gaghan, Hector Preciado, and Aaron Preciado; her 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
