Josie Favela, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, was born on March 19, 1941, and was called to be with the Lord on March 27, 2026, at the age of 85.
Josie lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. She was known for her kind heart, quiet strength, and the warmth she extended to everyone she met. Her life was filled with countless cherished memories, and she took great joy in passing down traditions that will continue to live on through generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Virginia Torres; her brother, Louis Torres; her sister, Frances Tovar; and her nephews, Martin and Robert Tovar and Phillip Torres.
Josie leaves behind a beautiful and lasting legacy through her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Jose "Joe" Favela; her children: Diana Gonzalez (Lupe), Rachel Valdez (🕊️Tony), Sandra Amador (David), Norma De La Rosa, Florence Ramirez (Juan), and Richard Rodriguez Jr. (Monica); and her bonus children: Fred (Stephanie), Roger (Amy), and Angelica (Winston).
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 9 bonus grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to honor and cherish her memory.
Family was the center of Josie's life, and she took great pride in each and every one of her loved ones. She found joy in bringing people together, offering guidance, sharing stories, and creating a strong foundation of love and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 North General McMullen, San Antonio, Texas 78228.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 130 South San Augustine Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78237. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2.
Josie Favela will be deeply missed, but her love, faith, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
