Obituary

Juan R. Flores Jr. born December 26, 1942, was granted his angel wings on January 30, 2024, at the age of 81. His final days were spent surrounded by his beloved family he had been devoted to throughout his beautiful life.

In his early years after earning his General Education Development Degree, he served honorably in the United States Army Reserves from July 1962 to July 1968.  In 1974 he pursued a career as a Security Officer and progressed to a Senior Supervisor for the Christus Santa Rosa Hospital and retired in 2009 with 35 years of meritorious service.  Once retired, he enjoyed his time with his beautiful wife Rosemary and family.  On the weekends he would love to shop at Estate Sales to find antiques to refurbish and resell.

Everyone knew him as a devoted FAMILY MAN.  His great strength was his family, he sacrificed all his comforts and did everything for them.  He was a very courageous MANLY MAN physically, mentally, and emotionally.  Nothing never brought him down and in his very difficult moments of his life, he overcame and conquered himself, impulses, and surroundings. He did things his way, all the way to the end, standing on his own two feet.  He was an epitome of the meaning of the word "DAD".  He was a provider of not just the physical, but also the giver of emotional support that should be in a dad.  He was an optimistic thinker known for his strong work ethic.  He was a man of wisdom who demanded respect, but gave respect where respect was due.

Those who were touched by him understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time he was in their lives. He was a selfless loving husband to his wife of 56 years and nurturing father to his daughters and son.  He cherished being around his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His devotion to them was truly remarkable. The legacy he leaves behind is one of compassion, generosity, and kindness. His humbleness and generosity, along with his caring nature brought so much warmth to everyone's lives. He will be eternally loved and greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He will live on through his beloved daughters, Rose F. Mandujano, Trine Cantu, Janette Sierra, son Lupe Ramirez, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, six sisters, one brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 North General McMullen Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78228 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a Chapel Service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.  A cremation will be held on February 18, 2024, and his ashes will be memorialized in an urn that will rest alongside his bride at their home of 40 years.
