In the early morning hours of August 13, Juan Hipolito Jr died at the age of 75, surrounded by relatives and friends.  He was born in La Mesa, Texas and raised in Austin, Texas. Most of his adult life was spent in Northern California.

He served in The United States Army during the Viet Nam War Era, 1966-1969.  At age 20, he achieved the rank of Buck Sargeant. He was selected for Soldier of the Year Award at the age of 20.

Juan graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1975 with a degree in Psychology. In 1978 he graduated from the Law School in Southern California and soon moved his family to Northern California where established his law practice.

In 1982 Juan met Cesar Chavez and his family. Because of his legal background and tenacity, Cesar Chavez invited him to assist the farm workers who had no funds to pay legal fees relative to work related injuries and civil rights violations.

In 1983 the GI Forum elected Juan National Legal Counsel for a term of 4 years.  None of these services involved monetary compensation.  His best legal work was performing services for those who could not otherwise defend themselves in legal proceedings.

Juan was kind and hardworking who motivated others to excel in whatever their talents laid. As a Constitutional Law Professor in San Francisco he mentored students and pushed them to think critically and logically.

His family, especially his grandchildren, occupied a special place in his heart. He loved sharing his thoughts and opinions with the youngsters and encouraged them to use their God given talents. Books, nature, music and art in form were very dear to his heart.

He leaves a void in everyone's heart who loved him and knew his true nature. Rest peacefully dear angel.
