Obituary

Juan Alfonso Jaquez, age 27, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away suddenly on August 25, 2025, in a tragic motorcycle accident. He was born on August 26, 1997, in San Antonio, and although his life ended far too soon, it was filled with courage, determination, and love.

Juan grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Business Careers High School in 2015. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy for a short period of time. In the years that followed, he traveled across the country—spending time in Massachusetts, California, Florida, and Oklahoma—experiencing life and making memories along the way.

Earlier this year, Juan returned home to San Antonio determined to rebuild his life. With resilience and strength, he achieved milestone after milestone—earning his driver's license, finding work, securing important documents, and even buying a motorcycle. Each step reflected his determination and his desire to begin anew.

He will be remembered for his sharp mind, quick humor, and his ability to make plans and follow through. More than that, he will be remembered for the joy he brought to others and the deep love he carried for his family. Juan had a gift for leaving an impression—whether you knew him for years or only briefly, his kindness and spirit made an impact.

Juan is survived by his parents, Margaret & Tony Powers, and Juan Jaquez & April Cary; his sisters, Andrea Jaquez, Anisa Martinez, Rachel Powers, and Alex Powers & Abigail Moriarty; brothers, Scott Wudtee and Mason Wudtee; his grandparents, Isidro & Betty Jaquez, Elida Gutierrez, Preston and Mary Powers, and Marsha & John Cary; his uncles, Francisco Jaquez & Michael Vicens Gonzalez, and Joe Gutierrez; his aunts, Elida & Jose Sarabia, and Denise & Michael Cardenas; and many cousins, including Michael Jay Cardenas, Dejah Cardenas, Christian Rodriguez, Jolyne Sarabia, Joey Sarabia, Joe Angel Gutierrez, and George Gutierrez, as well as extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forever. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jose M. Gutierrez.

Services will be held at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N General McMullen Dr., San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday, August 31, 2025. Family gathering will begin at 3:00 PM, public visitation at 4:00 PM, followed by a sermon and celebration of life at 6:00 PM.

Juan will be cremated, but his spirit and memory remain with us always. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Juan has been welcomed home into the arms of our Lord, safe and whole again, and that one day we will be reunited. Until then, his smile, his laughter, and his love will live on in all who knew him.
