Obituary

Juan Pablo Segura Jr passed away on June 29, 2022, at the age of 77.

Juan was born on June 26, 1945, in San Antonio Texas to the late Paula and Juan Segura Sr. He graduated from Lanier High School and then attended San Antonio College. He then enlisted as a reservist, first for the United States Army National Guard and then the United States Air Force. He would ultimately serve 38 years of civil service at Kelly Air Force Base and retire at Warner Robins, GA. He and Melesia shared a twenty-nine-year adventure and marriage together. They lived in Warner Robins, GA for 20 years and returned home to San Antonio in 2020. He helped shape his daughters Annabelle and Sylvia, stepchildren, and all his grandchildren into genuinely wonderful individuals who will in most ways, sometimes without knowing, proudly carry on a legacy he now leaves behind.

Juan was an avid and excellent pool player. He enjoyed good games of basketball and football, rooting for his teams, the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Hawks, and the Atlanta Falcons. He enjoyed the good times spent with his friends at Cardenas Icehouse. So many mementos he gave during his time with us will be remembered such as, "Ready Mel" his trademark saying which served as a friendly reminder move things along.  Juan enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversations, making someone smile, and feeling hopeful for the future of those he knew.

He inspired those around him to be better individuals. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds. He was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Juan loved when family and friends would get together. Those times exist in our memories and will be cherished forever. As the greatest role model we knew, he will be missed tremendously.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Melesia M. Segura; parents, Paula Ramos and Juan Segura Sr.; and his grandson, Joseph Ray Cantrill Jr. as well as his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his children, Annabelle Ransom (Ken) and Sylvia Sandoval (JJ); his daughters' mother, Teresa E.
