0n September 8, 2021, Juana Castillo Herrera went to be with our Lord at the blessed age of 95 with her five loving children by her side.

She was born on July 14, 1926, in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, daughter of the late Manuela and  Regino  Herrera. Juana was preceded in death by her sisters Carmen, Luz, Lenore, Delfina and brothers Mateo, Gonzalo, Regino and Guadalupe and her Grandson Danny Cortez.

Juana is survived by her sister Josefina, her two sons Lionel Cortez and Julio Jr. Cortez, three daughters Irma Hernandez, Emily English and Maricella (Sally) Hernandez, grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Juana Castillo Herrera moved to San Antonio at the age of seventeen and married Julio Cortez. Together they raised a family of five. Later in life, she became a single parent and was the most amazing mother to her five children.

She was determined and a strong hard worker. She worked her entire life up to the age of 84. She worked as a seamstress and cook. She enjoyed going out to eat, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Funeral service and visitation will be held 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Friday September 24, 2021 at Castillo Mission Funeral Home in San Antonio Texas. Food and beverages will be supplied by Armando Cortez and family. She will  be missed and live forever in our hearts .💕 💜 .
