Obituary

Our precious lil' lady, Juana R. Gonzales, known to many as "Aunt Jane", peacefully left this world for Heaven on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the age of 72. Juana was born in Big Spring, Texas and called many places "home" in her lifetime as she traveled around with her family working different farms but she settled back in Big Spring for a while before moving to San Antonio, then to Austin, then back to San Antonio where she lived out the rest of her life with her beloved family, Priscilla and Deacon Sam Salinas.

She was an incredible woman and no matter where she was living at the time, she devoted her life to her family, especially all of the children over the years. She raised so many of us and watched us grow from babies to adults and she was the one that we all went to for guidance and love. Juana was the matriarch of our family and was the glue that held everyone together. Though she wasn't able to birth any children herself, she reared many. She was a mother, a grandmother, and a Godmother to many. No one loved harder or prayed harder than our sweet Aunt Jane and we all truly believe that no one could truly be closer to God than she was. She was a devout Catholic and prayed 24/7, with a devotion to the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Everyone came to her daily with prayer requests. She had a way of making us feel that everything would be okay because she was going to pray for us. Aunt Jane was also a master in the kitchen! There wasn't anything that she couldn't cook and we were blessed and fortunate to have food served to us when it came from her. We knew it would always taste better than anything we could make specifically because she made it with all of her love. Another hobby of hers was watching WWF (later WWE) and she passed that on to her closest nieces and nephews in San Antonio. Her favorite wrestlers were John Cena, the Undertaker, Terry Funk, Mick Foley AND she was able to realize a dream of hers to go see wrestling live in both San Antonio and Austin, Texas!

She is survived by her siblings: Carmen Maldonado (Fidencio) and Tony Rodriquez Sr. (Isabel) and is preceded in death by her siblings: Merejildo "Mere" Rodriquez Sr. (Mary), Catalina "Cathy" Valdiviez (Ignacio Sr.), Alicia Reyes (Tony), and Consuelo "Chelo" Benavides.
