After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Juanita G. Hernandez (Janie) was called home to eternal rest on November 29, 2019 at the blessed age of 69. She was born on August 03, 1950, in San Antonio, TX to Eduardo and Rosa Hernandez. She is reunited in heaven with her mother and partner Librado Andrade; brothers Raul, Eduardo, Jose Luis, Francisco, Miguel and Robert Hernandez. She is loved and will be greatly missed by her daughters Janet A. Urrabas (Edward) and Jamie H. Rodriguez (Paul); grandchildren Mason Edward Urrabas, Noah Will Rodriguez, Diesel Misael Rodriguez, and Emmalee Rose Urrabas; brothers Felix Hernandez (Janie), Tony Gutierrez (Frances), Fernando Hernandez, Ruben Hernandez (Irma); sisters Jovita De Leon, Delia Guerrero (Jaime), Rosita Rosas, Mary Lou Rosendez (Juan), as well as nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, friends, and neighbors.
Janie was a loving mother and grandmother. She worked at E.I.S.D. until she medically retired. She then dedicated herself to taking care of her grandchildren who lovingly called her Memo. People were drawn to her kind heart and friendly personality. She never met a stranger she did not befriend. Her favorite past times were playing bingo and cards with her family and watching The Price is Right. Heaven has gained a treasured soul. God comes everyday to tend his garden on earth. He picks the flowers that are not well. He takes them to his garden in heaven. He replants them and they enjoy a fruitful life forever. She will live forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and neighbors.
