May 17, 1946 – April 16, 2020
Juana Velasquez, 73, of San Antonio, peacefully went to be with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Thursday April 16th, 2020 at 11:46am.
Juana was born Estado de Coahuila De Zaragoza, Mexico to Geronima and Pedro Velasquez on May 17th, 1946. Juana came to the United States in the early 1970's. She spent most of her years working factory jobs such as Levis, Taxco Tamale factory among others. Juana favorite hobby was cooking and enjoyed cooking not only for her family and friends but also the community, she especially loved cooking up her famous Gorditas in the Historic Market Square during many cultural event including Fiesta. Juana was deemed and awarded "Gordita Queen of San Antonio" a few times. She always took pride in making people smile with her food.
Juana was a hard working woman and in between working many hours in local factories and cooking for events she raised four children, who she loved more then life itself. She always wanted her children to be happy, healthy and live a life of love as she did. Juana enjoyed listening to music and dancing and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Juana was and always will be the heart and soul of her family. She could light up any room with her smile and her laughter.
Juana is survived by Husband Samuel Escobedo, son Juan Antonio Aguilar, wife Blasa Aguilar, daughter Claudia Margarita Villegas, husband Jose Luis Villegas, Son Francisco Javier Aguilar wife Diana Pineault, son Raul Velasquez Aguilar wife Barbara Martinez- Aguilar and sisters Severa Velasquez and Margarita Velasquez and thirteenth grandchildren Juan Aguilar Jr., Louis Albert Villegas, Andrew Michael Aguilar, Daniel Villegas, Amanda Aguilar, Michael Villegas, Brittany Aguilar, Vanessa Aguilar, Cierra Aguilar, Edward Aguilar, Richard Villegas, Katelin Villegas and Zoe Jane Aguilar and 4 great grand children: Alyssa Aguilar, Aubrey Aguilar, Alexis Aguilar, Chloe Villegas.
Viewing will be held at Castillo Mission Funeral Home at 520 N.Gen. McMullen Dr. San Antonio, Tx. 78228,
on Monday April 27th, 2020 at 9:00am to 11:00am (special instruction are required before entry due to city Covid-19 regulations, viewing not open to public) Burial following, San Fernando Cemetery #3 12:30pm (practice social distancing and wearing mandatory protective gear) This part of the event is for immediate family only.
